For example, after Moses ordered the destruction of the ‘godless’ place of Midian. His soldiers burned and plundered it. They killed the king’s family and most everyone else. When he found that his soldiers hadn’t killed the women, he was mightily displeased, for he blamed the women for turning the people against his God. So that nasty deed was soon done. But, of course, they saved the virgins. They were the rightful plunder of the soldiers, after all. Numbers 31:7-18
